Alton McCormick is no stranger to Texas’ world of sports officiating. Alton’s officiating resume includes football referee for 22 years (over 12 years as the white hat) and high school basketball referee for 36 years and counting. He has been an official at conferences such as the Lone Star Conference Basketball NCAA Division II, the Western Junior College conference for 20 years, and the Heartland Conference Basketball NCAA Division II for 10 years.
Since 2009, Alton is the State of Texas University Interscholastic League & Texas High School Officials Association Basketball Rules Interpreter. He currently serves as President of Texas High School Golden Spread All Star Basketball and Volleyball Tournaments and Texas Association Basketball Coaches & Texas Girls Coaches Association All Star games referee assignor. Alton is also a Basketball Camp Evaluator and Mentor for new officials. He is an active member of the National Association of Sports Officials.
Alton is a recipient of the Official of the Year Award by the National Federation High School Officials Association from 2012-13 for the state of Texas. He was also awarded Outstanding Service to Amarillo Basketball Chapter for three years.
Alton McCormick proudly joined ArbiterPay Texas in 2016 as a Managing Partner. His extensive experience in the officiating world has given him insight to the game; namely the problems Texas High School sports has faced for years; from scheduling and assigning games to payment of officials. Armed with this knowledge and in conjunction with his position at ArbiterPay Texas, Alton has committed himself to bringing solutions to the Texas sports community that, over many years, has become an intricate part of his life.
Alton is happily married to his loving wife of 42 years, Terri. He is blessed with 2 children and 8 grandchildren. In his spare time, Alton enjoys traveling with his family, playing golf and snowmobiling. Alton often displays his singing talents with the adult choir at St. Stephens United Methodist Church.
